Connecting Across the Caribbean:
Geography, Diaspora, Art
Looking at connections between Africa and the Caribbean, this panel focused on the role of artists and art historians in visualizing Africa and the diaspora in response to Africa in Florida: Five Hundred Years of African Presence in the Sunshine State. The book addresses how we think about geography and how we visualize personal, cultural, and historical narratives and re-imagine a new geography—one that accommodates overlapping diasporas, the encounters between Africa and the diasporas, and an awareness of the places where these encounters take place.
